Grassroots Elected Official Visits
LACN’s “Grassroots Elected Official Visits” are one of the most effective ways to get to know your state assembly member, state senator or members of the US Congress or Senate by inviting them to spend a little time at your lumberyard.
Many elected officials have never seen the operations of a lumberyard or a retail lumber and building materials business – and some have no concept of what occurs or may even have misconceptions about our industry.
LACN will help you in setting up a GRASSROOTS MEETING at your lumberyard or business. We’ll take care of the arrangements with the elected official’s office and we’ll be there to assist with details at the time of the visit.
Even if you have never met your elected officials, most are interested in meeting constituents and gaining information on industry issues. And especially those who may not agree with us need to see the positive aspects of the Lumber industry.
We’ve got a great message:
– Solid small businesses, many with a long time California heritage,
– Providing employment to more than 60,000 people statewide
– $20 billion in revenue annually and more than $2 billion in taxes paid
– Concern for the environment and quality of life
– And lumber is a renewable resource!
Not sure what to talk about? LACN will provide you with issue information and assist during the visit. It is not a fancy meeting. This is a workplace meeting and the elected officials will see people at work in an industry that cares about safety.
The time of day is generally open, but often the meetings include a simple lunch after a tour of the lumberyard and business. Fridays are best as most legislators are in their district that day.
It is your opportunity to show your business and talk about the issues that affect you!
Let us know if you are willing to host a GRASSROOTS MEETING. Call Ken Dunham at the LACN office at 800/266-4344 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
