The wood products industry is one of California’s oldest industries, deeply tied to the history of the state. It is a complex and diverse industry, ranging from the timber management and harvesting to the retail side that serves the state’s homebuilders and commercial contractors. Lumber dealers are also involved in some of the less obvious elements of California’s economy, including providing wood products for the wine industry and wood products used in the state’s movie industry.
The Lumber Association has a significant number of member firms that have been family-owned businesses for more than 100 years, and are the focal points in many communities and neighborhoods.
